The game was basically flipped offensively from yearly statistics as Va Tech did not hit many three's and Texas shot the lights out especially for a team who did not show that ability during the year. Texas effectively ran VT off the three point line and made them drive and shoot or pass to the paint. This was also not typical of Texas defense during the year as they usually packed it in. Keve Aluma picked up two ticky-tack fouls that hurt. The game was very physical as Texas was allowed to body up.
The Hokies game plan was to execute what they had done all season which should have worked but Texas just executed their game plan a little better and shots dropped they had not been hitting. A great third season for Va Tech
